🔵 Ok, strap in as I try to keep you up to date with what is happening at Greenock Morton.
It has been well documented that the club’s main sponsor has been struggling, and payments to the club are still due, which has meant the club is struggling financially.
On the table was a proposal from the Estrella Football Group to buy a stake in the club for £750,000.
It was reported that the group had revised their offer to £600,000 after learning of the club’s financial difficulties.
At a meeting on Monday night with Morton Club Together members, Director Graham Barr laid out the harsh reality of where the club is financially. Those in attendance were told the club could cover September’s wages, but beyond that it was a “concern”.
A vote on the Estrella revised proposal was meant to take place but was postponed in what turned out to be a very lively meeting.
Yesterday, the Estrella Football Group withdrew their proposal citing the current circumstances, and the club subsequently set up a fighting fund to raise much-needed funds. Over £13,000 had been raised in a matter of hours.
The Easdale brothers have been asked to join a consortium trying to rescue the club.
The club are currently bottom of the Championship and are yet to score a goal in any of the six games they have played this season.
And from a fan’s perspective, this is well worth a read.
