⚽ The Saturday Kick-Off #19 - Dare to dream?
As we know, Scotland are two games away from the World Cup. We need to avoid defeat in Greece. Can we take anything from the history books?
Welcome to The Saturday Kick-Off email - a special bonus email for paid subscribers. The free daily Kick-Off email will be back on Monday.
Safe travels to all those heading to a game this weekend.
DARE TO DREAM?
Two games between Scotland and the World Cup. A first men’s World Cup since 1998.
Yes, a play-off has been secured. If needed, it will be our third play-off for the last four major tournaments. To put that in context, the previous 10 major tournament attempts resulted in zero qualifications and two play-offs - EURO 2000 and EURO 2004.
Perhaps a good reminder of where we are as a footballing nation.
In case you need a reminder of what we need. If we avoid defeat against Greece and beat Denmark at home on Tuesday, then we are off to North America. Anything else and it is the play-offs for us once again.
To help get you in the mood for tonight, let’s take a look back at our history away to Greece and some recent away results to inspire confidence.
